Intro to Silversmithing: Gemstone Ring Making

This is not a bead class or a simple craft project.

In this hands-on workshop, you will step into a real jewelry studio and create your own sterling silver gemstone ring from scratch.

No previous jewelry-making experience is needed. I will guide you through each step, from shaping the silver to setting your stone and finishing your ring.

You will learn how to:

• work with real sterling silver

• create and shape a bezel for your gemstone

• form and size your ring band

• solder the pieces together

• use professional jewelry tools safely

• file, sand and finish your ring

• set your gemstone into the finished piece

You will experience some of the same techniques and tools used by silversmiths — and at the end of the workshop, you will leave wearing a ring you made with your own hands.

Because groups are kept small, you will have plenty of individual guidance throughout the process.

Duration: approximately 2–2.5 hours

Experience level: Beginner — no experience needed

Group size: Small group

Materials: Sterling silver included

Tools: All professional jewelry tools provided

A selection of gemstones will be available at the studio. All gemstones are an additional cost and are priced separately depending on your selection.

This workshop runs with a minimum of 2 participants. If the minimum is not reached, I will contact you to arrange another available date.

Come on your own, bring a friend, sister, daughter, or make it a special creative day together.

You don’t need to know how to make jewelry.

You just need to be curious enough to try.
