Air Chasing & Forming: Copper Bracelet Workshop

Explore the sculptural side of metalsmithing and create a one-of-a-kind copper bracelet using the traditional technique of air chasing.

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how heat, hammers and forming tools can transform a flat piece of copper into a dimensional piece of wearable art.

Unlike working from a fixed pattern, air chasing allows the metal to develop naturally as you work. Every curve, fold and texture will be slightly different, making each finished bracelet completely unique.

No previous metalsmithing experience is required. I will guide you step by step through the entire process.

What You Will Learn

During this approximately 2-hour workshop, you will:

• anneal copper using a torch

• learn the fundamentals of air chasing

• shape and form metal using specialized hammers and tools

• create raised, sculptural textures

• refine the shape of your bracelet

• finish and polish your piece

• use professional metalsmithing tools safely

You will have the freedom to experiment with texture and form while learning how copper responds to heat and hammering.

Your Bracelet

You will leave the studio with a finished handcrafted copper bracelet created entirely by you.

Because of the nature of air chasing, no two pieces can ever be exactly the same.
