Precious Metal Recycling & Jewelry Redesign Workshop

Give old or broken jewelry a completely new form.

In this hands-on metalsmithing workshop, you will learn how suitable gold or silver jewelry can be recycled, reworked and transformed into a new piece using traditional jewelry-making techniques and professional tools.

You may bring broken jewelry, pieces you no longer wear, or metal with sentimental meaning that you'd like to preserve in a new way.

Depending on the material and your design, you may create a ring, pendant, earrings or another small jewelry piece.

No previous jewelry-making experience is required. I will guide you through the process from evaluating your material to shaping and finishing your new piece.

What You Will Learn

During this approximately 3.5–4.5 hour workshop, you may:

• prepare suitable old jewelry for recycling

• melt and reform precious metal

• learn basic metal forming techniques

• shape and texture your new piece

• solder and assemble components when required

• file, sand and polish your jewelry

• use professional jewelry-making tools safely

Because every piece of old jewelry is different, the exact process and finished design will depend on the type, condition and amount of metal you bring.

Before the Workshop

Not all jewelry is suitable for melting or direct reuse.

Some pieces may contain unknown alloys, plating, solder, stones or other materials that need to be removed or evaluated first.

Please email photos and a brief description of the jewelry you would like to bring before booking so I can confirm whether it is suitable for the workshop.

Additional metal or findings may be required depending on your project and are not included unless otherwise stated.

Location: Private studio in Almonte, Ontario

Full instruction and safety guidance are provided throughout the workshop.

Instead of leaving meaningful jewelry unworn in a box, you can transform the material into something you will use and enjoy again.

The original piece may change completely, but the story behind it remains.
